<p>Greetings and Welcome Good Gentles All, to the Shire of Ambergard. We are a branch of the
Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (more commonly referred to
as the SCA). We are located in Grant County Washington.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="shire\harvest05\HarvestFeast2005\photos\photo32.jpg" height="200" width="200" alt="Goodly Combatants" style="float: left"/>The
SCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the research and
recreation of the customs and cultures of the Middle Ages and
Renaissance periods. It focuses on Western Culture but it is not
limited to it. Our time period that we endeavor to recreate is
from 600 to 1600 A.D.

next question may be What is an Anachronism? An anachronism is
something that is taken out of its proper time and place. (Such
as what many of us do, e.g. pretending to be in the 16th century
while really living in the 21st century or having a 9th century
Roman persona living in a 16th century French pavillion.)
Within the society is the Shire of Ambergard, located
in the Kingdom of An Tir, which translates into "Our Land". The
Shire of Ambergard was first formed in 1985 (A.S., or Anno
Societatis, time within the society).
<p>We hold the first war of the season every March, called
the Oasis War, here in our Shire, as well as a Harvest
celebration feast in October!
<p>If you enjoy:

<li>the time period of the Middle Ages/Renasaince of Europe and the surrounding world</li>
<li>learn about the daily life of the Middle Ages and recreating it through:</li>
<li>Recreating their clothes, food, customs, weapons, sciences and arts</li>
the SCA is for you! Come join the fun! Our Shire has monthly meetings the first Thurs. of every month as well as other local events to attend such as:

<li>Culinary Guild-A group that meets to discuss period recipes and plan for any feasting events we have</li>
<li>Archery and Thrown Weapons pratice-for those interested in shooting archery targets, learning to make bow strings and arrows, as well to throw knives, spears, and axes.</li>
</ul>
<p>If any of this sounds fun, you may be already an SCA-er!!
