Harvest Celebration 2006

The Shire of Ambergard once again invites you to a fully served feast, to honor Their Royal Majesties King Amalric and Queen Caia. We have had a bountiful harvest and wish to celebrate. Come and enjoy with us this joyful occasion. Site opens at 3:00 pm.

The Ambergard Culinary Guild is once again busy scouring their cookbooks to bring you a culinary delight. To show our gratitude to Their Royal Majesties we will have two removes to honor them. If you have food allergy concerns, or questions please contact the Autocrat. If you would like to help with serving please let us know.

Site Fee: $12.00 adults, 13 years and up, with membership. $15.00 for non-members of the same age group. $6.00 for 6-12 paid members, and for non-members of the same age group. 5 and under free. Make checks payable to SCA Inc., Shire of Ambergard. Due to limited space reservations are requested, pre-paid is preferred, by October 15, 2006. Send reservations to the autocrat Mistress Olivia.

Directions: Take your best route to Ephrata WA. The site is the Ephrata Recreational Center, 112 Basin Street SW. Basin Street is the main street through town. Look for SCA signs.

War in the Oasis 2006

Hail AnTir! The Shire of Ambergard invites you once again to our annual Oasis War and the ever popular "Tavern Style" Feast where, while dining, you will be awed by swashbuckling prowess during the "Lady Agata's Memorial Rapier Tourney". This year our tavern will be in the talented hands of Dregate's Culinary Guild and as usual, field food will be delivered to the War Field for those fighters - too exhausted - to attend the Tavern.

The War Field is at OASIS PARK, 2541 Basin Street SW, Ephrata and it will open Saturday, March 11 at 9:30am. To get there take your best route to Basin Street in Ephrata, Washington. (The main thoroughfare through Ephrata is Hwy 28 - aka Basin Street). OASIS PARK is located at the very southwest edge of town on Hwy 28. Watch for the SCA signs.

The Tavern Site will again be held at the Ephrata Recreation Center (ERC) in the center of town at 112 Basin Street SW (this venue is also on the main thoroughfare and located next to the Les Schwab Tire Center). The Tavern Site will open at Noon on Saturday, March 11, but food will not be available there until around 5:00pm. Both sites close at midnight.

Site Fee is $10.00 for Adults (ages 13 and up) with a $3.00 non-member surcharge and $5.00 for Youths (ages 7 - 12). Those age 6 and under are allowed in free but still need to be signed in. Please make checks payable to "The Shire of Ambergard, SCA Inc."

May Crown Tournament

Their Royal Majesties Courageous and Sage King Sven Falgr Gunarson and the Beautiful and Wise Queen Signy Oxendahl invite the populace of An Tir to join them for May Crown.  Your hosts for May Crown is the Shire of  Ambergard.  There will be the Crown Tournament to find who An Tir's next  Royal Prince and Princess will be.  There will also be many other fun and interesting activities including merchants, rapier fighting, archery, thrown weapons, a box tourney and equestrian. Meetings and Ithra Classes will also be going on.  There will be much, much more as well.  Please keep checking the shire web pages for up-dates as information becomes available.  You  will also find the information for our Map Maker HL Bronwen Elgars (in charge of site lay out, eric reservations, and large group camping) Merchant Steward HL Pegleg, and Equestrian Marshal is Companion Oso.

 The site will open to merchants at 12:00 noon on Friday May 19th.  The site opens to the populace at 3:00 PM also on Friday May 19th.  The event closes at 5:00 PM on Sunday May 21.  Site fee will be adult members $15.00, children ages 6 - 17 are $7.00, and children under 5 are free.  Make checks payable to SCA Inc., Shire of Ambergard.  For non-members there will also be an additional $3.00 Non-Member Surcharge.

Fires must be above ground  with fire extinguisher or suitable fire suppressant in sight. 12 am noise curfew will be observed.

I-90 take exit 179 onto HWY 17 Northbound.  Follow HWY 17 around Moses Lake to Grape Drive (4th stop light).  Take a left onto Grape Drive; stay on Grape Drive till you come to W. Valley Rd.  Take a right onto Valley Road. Equestrians will take a right onto N. Paxton.  General camping will turn  right on to Airway Drive NE.  Follow the SCA signs.

Tax information

All merchants are required to have a current UBI number from the Washington Department of Revenue.   You must apply directly to the Washington Department of Revenue.  All merchant businesses are responsible for collecting and reporting all sales taxes on consignment goods sold through their business. 

 

Food Vendors

There will not be any food merchants. Only the Grant County Fairgrounds will have food concessions.

 

Proof of SCA membership

The primary business owner must be a sustaining member of the SCA at the time of the May Crown in order to sell at May Crown.  Proof of membership is a copy of your membership card, a copy of your newsletter-mailing label, or copy of correspondence from the Registry stating that you have received your renewal.  All family and staff members who will be paying the adult member price to attend the war must also provide proof of membership.  Proof of membership or payment of the non-member surcharge ($3) will be required upon check-in for anyone whose membership has lapsed between the submission of the merchant packet and May Crown.

 

Space assignments

The goal of the merchant Autocrat is to have a consistent layout of the merchant area.  Merchant space is not transferable and its use is limited to the persons listed on the application.  Space assignments may change due to circumstances that come to light after the original assignment. 

 

Merchant set up

Merchants may begin setting up Friday 5/19/2006 after check in.  Check in begins at noon.  Pre-registered Merchants who plan to arrive after 6 PM on Friday 5/19/2006, please list on special needs.

Individuals who are not pre-registered will not be permitted on site until gate opens for general admission.

 

Merchants are responsible for setting up and taking down their own selling space.  There are no volunteers to assist in this task.

 

Ropes

No ropes are permitted to extend out into the roadways.  Please mark ropes near pedestrian traffic with colored flags.  You are permitted to cross ropes with your neighbors if this is agreed upon by all concerned.

 

Business identification

All merchants must have a business sign that is visible to shoppers walking by.  The signs can be carved/painted or sewn on fabric.

 

Vehicle rules

All vehicles must be moved to the parking area upon unloading.  Please unload as quickly as possible.  No vehicles are permitted in the marketplace from Saturday 10 a.m. to Sunday 3 p.m.  RV camping will be available as well as an oversized vehicle parking area.

 

Electricity

No generators are allowed unless pre-approved by the merchant autocrat.

 

Rules for space use

Please keep your area neat and free of trash.  Selling tents are encouraged to be a medieval style.  Canvas or canvas-like fabrics are encouraged.  It is recommended that all modern living tents be hidden from sight.  All modern looking items should be covered.

 

Rules and regulations

Please read the site handout for general site rules and policies upon arrival.  Copies of the site handout will be available when you check in.

 

Fire policy

You are required to have a Fire Extinguisher located at your merchant booth.  All local fire regulations will be followed.

 

Garb

All merchants must conform to SCA standards of garb.  Modern clothing may not be worn.

 

Music

Music inappropriate to the SCA is banned in the market place  (i.e. rock and roll and other music).  All other music or offensive noise will be moderated at your neighbor's request.  Rule of thumb-if it annoys your neighbor; it will annoy the merchant autocrat.

 

Restricted merchandise

You may NOT sell food or beverages of any kind including water.

 

Acceptable merchandise

It is not our goal to restrict the trade of any merchant, if you feel your merchandise may be inappropriate please contact the merchant autocrat.  Merchandise must be medieval and/or SCA related.  The merchant staff reserves the right to demand removal of any merchandise. 

 

Merchandise display

Please keep the following products stocked out of view with only a few pieces of merchandise on display: plastic coated slogan buttons and bumper stickers, music tapes, CDs, computer software, etc…

 

Advertising on site

Any advertising to be placed on privies must be approved by the Privy Post staff.  Advertising is limited to medieval and/or SCA related material.  The merchant staff reserves the right to demand removal of any advertising deemed inappropriate.  Check site rules for more information.

 

Refund policy

A full refund will be given if the merchant autocrat is notified of the cancellation in writing postmarked 30 days prior to the start of the event.  All other requests for refunds will be at the discretion of the merchant autocrat.  There will be no refunds if you are asked to leave site at the request of the merchant or main autocrat.

Equestrian Information:

There is stabling on site and the cost is $10.00 per night US. This includes bedding supplied by the
fairgrounds. Owners must supply feed and a water container for their horses.
The fairgrounds normally has a higher stall fee but agreed to lower it on
the condition that owners clean up after themselves, so please bring
wheelbarrows, shovels, pitchforks. Please make reservations to HL Triona de Mere. See contact information below.  Payment in advance would be appreciated . Please no calls after 9 pm.
